Dumbbell Area Essentials: Choose, Use and Return
The dumbbell area is a shared workspace. A little preparation makes your session smoother and keeps the space easier for everyone else to use.
Choose with control in mind
Pick a load you can handle deliberately for the movement you intend to practise. If you are learning an exercise, ask a trainer to help with technique and selection. The number printed on a dumbbell is not a target you have to match.
Create room to train
Check the space around the bench and your intended movement path. Keep bags out of walkways and avoid standing directly in front of the rack while other members need access. Move weights carefully rather than carrying more than you can manage.
Use the bench thoughtfully
Check that the bench is stable and adjusted correctly before starting. Keep nearby equipment clear of your feet. If you are unsure how to move or lock an adjustable bench, ask rather than forcing a mechanism.
Finish the job
Return dumbbells to the correct position, wipe contact surfaces and leave the bench ready for someone else. Re-racking is part of the session. A well-kept free-weight area makes the next visit better for everyone.
