Cable Machines: Check the Setup Before the First Rep
A cable station gives you several adjustment points, which is useful only if you know what each one does. Take a moment to set it up before you start moving the weight.
Identify the controls
Find the weight pin, pulley height adjustment and attachment connection. Read the machine’s instructions and ask the team to explain anything unfamiliar. Do not assume that a station works exactly like one you have used elsewhere.
Check the attachment
Make sure the attachment is properly secured and the adjustment points are locked. Check that the cable can move freely through the intended path. If a cable, clip or handle looks damaged, stop and report it.
Give the movement space
Stand where your chosen exercise can be performed without blocking a walkway or another station. Keep spare handles away from your feet. Start with a manageable load so you can check the setup and control the return.
Reset for the next member
Lower the stack under control and return attachments to their storage area. Leave the station clear. If you changed something and are not sure how to reset it, ask a team member rather than leaving it unsecured.
