Gym Etiquette: Small Habits That Keep Training Moving
Good gym etiquette is practical. It gives people room to train, keeps equipment available and makes the gym feel like a place everyone can use with confidence.
Keep access clear
Do not train directly in front of the dumbbell rack or leave bags across a walkway. Give people space around equipment and avoid walking through an active movement. Check behind you before moving a bench or carrying weights.
Share with a conversation
If someone is using the equipment you need, ask how many sets they have left. If you agree to alternate, make sure changing the setup is practical for both of you. Never adjust another person’s equipment mid-session.
Treat filming carefully
Keep other members out of your footage unless they have agreed to appear. Position your phone where it does not create an obstacle or occupy equipment you are not using. Check the gym’s filming policy with the team.
Leave the station ready
Re-rack weights, return handles and wipe contact surfaces. Report damaged equipment rather than leaving the problem for someone else. A strong training culture is built from these ordinary actions, repeated by every member.
