Keep a Training Log That You Will Actually Use

A training log does not need to become another project. Its job is to help you remember what happened in the gym so your next session starts with useful information.

Record the essentials

Note the date, exercise name, machine settings, load and repetitions you completed. Add whether the session felt manageable or unusually difficult. Keep the format consistent so you can compare sessions without decoding your own notes.

Write the setup down

Seat heights, cable positions and attachments are easy to forget. Recording them can save time on your next visit. If you are unsure about an adjustment, ask for help and record the explanation in your own words.

Use notes to ask better questions

Instead of telling a trainer that an exercise felt wrong, show which equipment you used and describe what you noticed. Do not use your log to push through pain; stop and seek suitable guidance when something does not feel right.

Review, then act

Look back at a few sessions before making changes. Attendance, consistent execution and clearer technique notes are worth tracking alongside load. Use the Fitness Bay app or a simple notebook—whichever you will reliably open after a session.
